Dear Familia,

How art thou?  Doesn't sound like a whole lot going on this Memorial day for you all.  We don't really have any plans either so it's okay!  This past week has been a pretty good one.  Elder Vande Merwe is working really hard at trying to learn his stuff so he can be up to par.  We do a lot of role plays in the morning during training and we had the opportunity to go and teach a new member lesson to vickie and also go and teach christa again and she wanted to start over and have Elder Vande teach her the lesson's so he can get practice.  It was a really good idea!  He had trouble getting into it at first but after he did he did fine and the spirit was very strong.

Our district is doing alright.  It seems like there is no unity in the entire zone though which is really weird.  No one seems to want to do anything at all together anymore and I think thats why they aren't doing as well as they could.  The week that I got made district leader we had 10 with a date in the district and then we went down to 5.  It was crazy so president was super worried and actually ended up coming down to my first district meeting that I taught.  I was super nervous but he ended up taking most of the time and basically chastizing those who lost people with a date.  They are doing a lot better now though.  We are back up to six and it steadily getting better.  I think they are really worried about the zone leaders here because their area is going really poorly after Elder Bird left.  They went from 4 with a date to none.  So the assistants are coming down tonight and going on exchanges with us and them.

We set a goal for our companionship that we want to have two baptisms on the 30th of June.  I don't know who they will be but we are going to have the faith to get it done.  We are doing all that we can to get out and talk with people and we are really focusing on getting the members more involved.  I heard a statistic the other day that 90% of convert baptisms come from members and only 10% of the members actually do missionary work on a regular basis.  Imagine if we could make it 20%, the baptisms would double!  Thats just crazy.  Those investigators who have friends that are members seem to do so much better at progressing than the rest of them.  So that is one of our new goals also.  To get the ward more involved with missionary work and get them doing their own.

We have been working with Zacks mom katie a lot.  She has a lot of questions and we do our best to answer them.  We kind of have a bump in the road though because we don't have a way to get her in the font.  She is a big woman and she can't go up and down stairs because of the blood disease that she suffered from.  She is going through physical therapy right now but I don't know if she will be ready so please pray for a miracle with her.  We have richard and marcus that have a date also but they are both having trouble finding their answer.  We have been praying hard for both of them so if you would do it also that would help a huge amount.  They need to have a spiritual confirmation that it is true.

Well I love you all very much.  Congratulations Melinda Moo on graduating!  I sent you a letter so it should get there soon!

Love,
Elder Erickson
